Assembled PC sales up 13%

New Delhi, March 27: The grey market for personal computers (PCs) grew by 13 per cent in the first three quarters of the current financial year 2002-03 while overall PC sales dropped by 2.3 per cent.

While the reporting period witnessed an increase in PC sales over the corresponding period last year, the market share of the branded PC came under severe pressure.

The unorganised sector made a significant dent in the market share of the branded PCs. From 50 per cent in first quarter the proportion of the locally assembled personal computers has gone up to 63 per cent, says a study done by MAIT, the apex association for IT hardware industry.
