Samsung arms set to merge

New Delhi, March 26: The Delhi High Court today paved the way for the merger of Samsung’s two Indian arms without a meeting of either vendors or creditors, a normal pre-condition for such mergers.

The high court, which is yet to give its final approval, has been hearing a plea from Samsung Electronics Company of South Korea for permission to merge Samsung Electronics India Information and Telecommunications Limited, a 100 per cent subsidiary of the parent company, with another wholly-owned subsidiary, Samsung Electronics India Ltd, to create a Rs 2,800 crore electronic and IT conglomerate.

The name of the new entity to be created after the merger is yet to be decided.
