Johannesburg, March 22 (Reuters): The ICC announced Saturday it would freeze the $3.5 million owed to England and the $2.5 million to New Zealand after they forfeited World Cup matches.
The ICC executive board decided to hold back the money in case, as expected, sponsors and broadcasters demand compensation after the matches were called off. This may lead to a legal battle.
India’s guarantee money
The ICC confirmed India’s guarantee money ($9 million) will be held back till the resolution of the contracts issue through arbitration process.
