Industrial output up 6.4 %

New Delhi, March 12: Propelled by a strong growth in manufacturing, the industrial production grew by 6.4 per cent in January over the same period of the previous year. During January, the manufacturing sector grew at 6.9 per cent followed by electricity at 4 per cent and mining at 2.7 per cent, according to the Index of Industrial Production.

SEZ tax sops

New Delhi, March 12: Commerce and industry minister Arun Jaitley will take up issues related to tax sops for special economic zones (SEZs) with the finance ministry.

LPG prices

New Delhi, March 12: The government has left the decision to increase domestic LPG prices, which have been necessitated following spike in international crude oil prices, to state-owned oil firms.

Rabo India

New Delhi, March 12: Rabobank has raised its stake in Rabo India to 100 per cent from 75 per cent by infusing $ 25 million. It plans to increase staff strength by 50 per cent.

Nepal scare

Calcutta, March 12: Flouting food ministry directive, the Central Warehousing Corp has permitted import of 20,000 tonnes of vanaspati from Nepal.
