Bankmen avoid relegation

Chennai: Indian Bank thrashed ITI Bangalore 6-1 to avoid relegation-threat in the seventh National Football League Monday. With two rounds to go, Indian Bank are in the 10th spot with 20 points, while ITI and HAL are both on seven and sure to be relegated.

The bankmen drew first blood in the 29th minute through Sabbir Pasha. Jayasuriya converted a Pasha centre in the 38th minute to make it 2-0 while Pasha himself came up with the third two minutes later. Najeeb reduced the margin two minutes from half-time. (PTI)
