3 hurt in bomb blast

Behrampore, Feb. 26: Three persons were injured when a crude bomb exploded in a crowded state transport bus at the Dakbanglow More on National Highway 34 in the Shamshergunj police station area this morning. Police said a man carrying bombs has been arrested, reports our correspondent.

Murshidabad additional police superintendent Shankar Singh said the blast took place around 10.30 am on board a North Bengal State Transport Corporation bus plying between Durgapur and Raigunj. “The passengers panicked after the blast but we took the three injured person to the Shamshergunj hospital. The bus, which was not badly damaged, continued its journey,” Singh said.

The arrested youth, Sohail Afsan, confessed he wanted to hurl bombs at policemen on duty at the madarsa in Dhuliyan, where the Madhyamik examination of the madarsa board began yesterday.
