Man held with fake passport

Police intercepted 32-year-old Sheikh Nawab at Calcutta airport on Tuesday evening after sleuths found he had faked his name and address in the passport.

Nawab, from Metiabruz, had got off a flight from Hong Kong and was passing through the Immigration counter when sleuths found the picture in his passport did not match his looks.

“We detained him for interrogation. After an hour, Nawab confessed to having faked the name and address to obtain the passport,’’ police said. Security control officers said the passport was in the name of Mohammad Selim of Metiabruz.

Officers went to Metiabruz to verify the address and name in the passport and found them to be fictitious. Nawab had gone to Hong Kong about a month earlier for work.
