Abduction case

New Delhi, Feb. 23 (PTI): Climaxing a 16-hour operation, the wife of a Jaipur jeweller was today rescued from a Faridabad house after nearly three weeks of captivity.

Seven members of the kidnappers’ gang were arrested, police said here.

The joint operation launched by police of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Central intelligence agencies ended around noon, they said.

Sixty-year-old Sumedha, wife of Rashmikant Durlabhji, was abducted from near her residence on February 6 during her morning walk. The kidnappers demanded Rs 2 crore as ransom.

Additional director-general of police N.N. Meena said in Jaipur that no ransom was paid to the abductors.

The seven arrested kidnappers belonged to a Delhi-based gang lead by Ajay Singh, Abhay Singh and Rakesh Singh of Bihar, he said.
