Hyderabad, Feb. 18 (PTI): A former district committee member of the CPI-ML (Janashakti group) was killed in an encounter with police even as 14 extremists, including five women, surrendered in Andhra Pradesh today, a senior police official said.

The extremists of the People’s War Group, Janashakti and Prathigatana, involved in extortions, murders and the destruction of government property “gave up activities due to disillusionment with extremist ideology, ill-health and food problem in forest areas”, Ramulu said.

The Naxalites include Banka Srinivas alias Siddiraju of the PWG, who carries a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head and was involved in the murder of a mandal praja parishad member.
