S.P. Saha

Deputy general manager, eastern region, Ashok Tours and Travels, India Tourism Development Corporation

Trams are more a mode of conveyance than a tourist attraction. We have conducted as many as 25 trips by tram during the Pujas last year. But there are a couple of problems that a journey by tram entails. Because of the fixed rails, it can go only upto certain points. The tourists then have to walk the rest of the way to the destination and back. Second, you cannot park a tram midway. But otherwise, tramrides found great favour with foreigners. We will reconsider using them after the monsoons.
