War fears force Jamali to cancel trip

Islamabad, Feb. 15 (PTI): As war clouds hover over Baghdad, Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has cancelled his Iran visit after being briefed by officials on the Iraq situation.

President Pervez Musharraf and his US counterpart George W. Bush discussed Pakistanís support of the US war effort at the UN Security Council.

Jamali was scheduled to depart for Iran on a three-day visit today to discuss a host of issues, including Iraq.

However, he decided to cancel his visit after attending a four-hour special presentation by foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and foreign secretary Riaz Kokhar on various policy issues, including growing prospects of war in the Gulf and Kashmir issue.
