Film festival:

A three-day film festival, “African-American in Hollywood cinema”, will be held at Rabindra Bhawan, Guwahati, from February 19 to 21. A package of five films including all-time great black American directors and actors — Paul Robson, Sidney Poitier, Whoopie Goldberg, Spike Lee and Denzil Washington will be screened at the festival. The documentary Black history and films and Malcolm X will be the inaugural screenings on February 19. On February 20, The Color Purple and Uptown Saturday Night will be screened, and on February 21, King Solomon’s Mines and Driving Miss Daisy will be screened. For details, dial 0361-2602510.

Theatre workshop:

Nabik, a theatre group of North Lakhimpur, will organise a 30-day “Production-oriented theatre workshop” in association with the National School of Drama, New Delhi, as part of the yearlong centenary celebrations from February 28. Recitation contest:

The regional infrastructure for education, socio-economic advanced research will organise a recitation competition for children upto five years. For details call 2452810.

LECTURE PROGRAMME:

A lecture programme has been organised by the literature department of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra at its auditorium hall on February 15 from 3.30 pm.

Festival:

Angami Kephrunuoko Krotho, Guwahati, is organising the Sekrenyi festival on the premises of the Bishnu Nirmala Trust auditorium in the city on February 15 at 10 am.

LITERARY SESSION:

The fifth biennial meet of Haradatta-Biradatta sahitya session will be held at Sajei-Dagaon on February 15 and 16.

Health camp:

A free health check-up camp will be held at Saokuchi, Lokhra, on February 16 from 9 am. It has been organised by Sonjog in association with Rotary Club and Down Town Hospital, Guwahati.

MEETINGS:

A public oration on prevention of death due to heart attack will be held at Rabindra Bhawan on February 15 from 5 pm as part of the 14th anniversary celebrations of Down Town Hospital.
