Saga of love
Kunal Bose and Sunil Gangopadhya

After a long wait, D-Day is here at last! The day associated with Roman Bishop Saint Valentine’s martyrdom in the third century holds true or not is a debatable issue, but the fact that it is a very special day for lovers is universally acknowledged. And the very special way Srijan looks at Valentine’s Day holds the promise of a spectacularly inspiring evening — when love is in the air and Romeo encounters Devdas and Juliet and Paro merge into one another. This ‘Evening of Love’ will begin with two great story-tellers recounting their personal experiences about ‘love’ as they read excerpts from their favourite love stories — Sunil Gangopadhyay in Bengali and Kunal Basu in English. Vernacular translations of their stories would also be read and the duo will discuss their “love affair with languages.” The entire programme will be anchored by another well-known author, Shankarlal Bhattacharya. This will be followed by an Indo-US fusion band from New York, Time Travails, featuring Mayookh Bhaumik on the tabla, Ryan Shah on drums, Khan Bhai (vocals), Nirmalya Dey (flute) and Bumpy on electric bass. They will perform numbers on the theme of “music is a language of love.”
