Warne’s loss sad: Sourav

Paarl: Whatever the benefits from Shane Warne’s ignominious exit, Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was politically correct in maintaining the episode was “sad” for the world of cricket and that the South African crowds would “miss” him.

Privately, of course, quite a few Indians happily told The Telegraph that Australia isn’t quite the same force without Warne. Also, that Saturday’s match (in Centurion) would have to be approached differently.

Holland’s captain, Roland Lefebvre, echoed Sourav’s thoughts. He added: “It will now be a lesser World Cup…”
