BSNL bonanza for fixed-line customers

Calcutta, Feb. 10: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a bouquet of new services for the fixed line subscribers. Speaking to newspersons at the launch of the services here today, chairman and managing director Prithipal Singh said: “We will introduce an account free internet service. This is a post-paid service where no prior account is necessary to log on to the internet. Internet usage will be charged at 10 paise per minute in addition to the prevailing call rate. The charges will be reflected in the telephone bill.” Subscribers can access the service by dialling 172222.

“At the moment, the service will be provided to Calcutta subscribers and later extended to the rest of the country,” Singh added.

BSNL has 3.5 crore fixed line subscribers across the country. The subscribers can now view their bills on the internet through the Calcutta Telephones website. They can see the detailed billing for the current cycle and also view bills for the last one year.
