Art workshop

February 15 at Hyatt Regency: Hyatt Regency Calcutta in association with Shastha Indriyo is organising a day-long art workshop to raise funds for a charitable cause. The participating artists include Prakash Karmakar, Bijan Choudhury, Robin Mondal, Tapan Ghosh and Tapan Mitra.The art works will later be auctioned to raise funds for Usha Rani Chakraborty, wife of late Tulsi Chakraborty, renowned actor of yesteryears.

February 12 at Academy of Fine Arts; 3 pm: An evening of Shakti Chattopadhyay, choreographed by Chetna Jalan and Dr Gilles Chuyen (France).


March 12 - 22 at Bijon Theatre: On the occasion of the completion of its 30 years, Sayak organises a full-length drama competition and invites groups from Calcutta, West Bengal and even outside the state to participate in this event. A total of 10 groups will be selected for this competition. Application forms are available at Bijon Theatre and the last date of application is February 17.


February 11 at Kala Kunj; 6.30 pm: Kolkata Nagarik Sammelan, Ward no. 90, presents a solo Rabindrasangeet recital by Prabuddha Raha. February 16 at Gyan Manch; 6 pm: The ninth annual programme of Anirban Memorial Concert features a tabla lahara duet by Subrata Bhattacharya and Amar Seth; vocal recital by Subhashish Mukhopadhyay, with Mihir Kundu (tabla) and Anirban Chakraborty (harmonium); and hansaveena recital by Barun Kumar Pal, with Subhajyoti Guha (tabla). February 22 at Academy of Fine Arts; 6 pm: On the occasion of its annual day, Umesh Foundation presents a musical evening featuring Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, Banishree Falisse, Monika Chakraborty and Philippe Falisse.


February 11 at Oxford Bookstore, 17, Park Street; 6.30 pm: Oxford Bookstore in association with Sutra... threads, ties and transformations presents Rosemary Crill, textile scholar, author and senior curator of Victoria & Albert Museum, London, reading from Trade, Temple and Court Indian Textiles from Tapi Collection, co-authored by her. This will be followed by a discussion.


Till February 10 at The Seagull Arts and Media Resource Centre; 2 pm- 7 pm: The Seagull Foundation for the Arts, in collaboration with Intel Asia Electronics Inc., presents A Hundred Flowers: Posters for Peaceful Coexistence. The exhibition is the outcome of an inter-school poster design competition non the theme of peaceful coexistence among communities.
