Double delight for South Point

It was double delight for South Point kids Wednesday as they won their under-14 and under-19 matches of the district schools meet. Their under-14s beat St Joseph’s and Mary’s by 96 runs, while their under-19s got the better of St Joseph’s and Mary’s under-19s by 92 runs. SUMMARISED SCORES U-14 — South Point 186/4. St Joseph’s & Mary’s 90 (Baibhav Singh 3/9, Pratik Majumdar 3/21, Pabandip Singh 3/8). South Point won by 96 runs. U-19 — South Point 178/7 (Sourajit Sarkar 57 n.o.). St Joseph’s & Mary’s 86 (Dipanjan Mustafi 4/20, A. Banerjee 3/20). South Point won by 92 runs.

Postal cricket

West Bengal and Tamil Nadu circles won their respective matches Wednesday in the 16th All India Postal cricket meet here. Bengal beat Army Postal services by 144 runs, while Tamil Nadu beat Orissa by seven wickets.

Basketball meet

Tata Tea and RPG were winners Wednesday in the 12th invitation mercantile basketball championship of the Women’s Basketball Association of West Bengal.

At the Rangers courts Tata Tea beat Oberoi 25-14, while RPG beat Greenways 51-32.
