Orissa batsmen plunder Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Brilliant centuries by B.B.C.C. Mohapatra, Rashmi Ranjan Parida and Sanjay Raul saw Orissa declare their first innings at a mammoth 589 for five on the second day of their Ranji Trophy group A match against Gujarat here on Sunday.

Resuming at their overnight 244 for one, Orissa added 345 runs for the loss of four wickets before the declaration.

Mohapatra, 149 overnight, was finally dismissed for 175.

Raul and Parida joined in the run feast. Parida made a fine 112 before being run out by Luv Pawar while Raul remained unbeaten on 128.

In reply, Gujarat were 54 for one with Luv batting on 21 and Akash Christian on 24.
