Complaint to poll chief

Trinamul Congress legislator Sovandeb Chattopadhayay on Saturday complained about the CPM’s “rampant malpractices and scientific rigging during elections” at an all-party meet convened by Chief Election Commissioner J.M. Lyngdoh.

The meeting was held to discuss means to conduct “fair polls” and was attended by Left Front chairman Biman Bose and other MLAs.

“Polls in Bengal have become a farce as the CPM manipulate voters’ lists and intimidate supporters of opponent parties,” Chattopadhyay told Lyngdoh, who was on a day’s visit to the city to inaugurate the election office inside Jessop Building.
