Indian eves go down

MINI WORLD CUP

New Delhi: Indian eves were handed a comprehensive 83-run drubbing by hosts New Zealand in their second mini World Cup match Tuesday.

Chasing 250, India managed 165 for five in their stipulated 50 overs, according to information received here.

S. Paranjpe (41) was the topscorer for India while Jaya Sharma scored 37.

The Indians, who had defeated England by six wickets in their previous outing, found the going tough against the hosts who took full advantage of the conditions.

N. Payne (93) was the top-scorer for the Black Caps while H. M. Tiffen (52) and R. J. Rolls (38) made substantial contributions.

India take on Australia in their next match Saturday.

Versus England off spinner Nooshin Al Khaleel had taken five wickets, but failed to shine Tuesday.
