Bangalore, Jan. 25 (PTI): Alvito D’cunha scored three goals as Calcutta giants East Bengal quelled a late resurgence to defeat Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore 5-3 in a National League match here on Saturday.
Leading 1-0 at half -time, East Bengal scored four more goals in the second session. However, they also allowed HAL to hit back in the fag end, scoring thrice to take some of the sheen off the Calcutta outfit’s victory.
D’Cunha’s goals came in the 33rd, 46th and 72nd minutes, while Subhas Chakraborty and Mike Okoro fired one goal each in the 48th and 64th minutes, respectively.
For HAL, Kenneth Onu netted two goals in the 81st and 85th minutes while Mahendra Mani scored the third during injury time.
In another match in Margao, Marcos Pereira scored a brace and guided Vasco SC to a 2-1 win over JCT. Yeboah Kwabena scored for the Jalandhar outfit.
