January 25 at Sree Thyagaraja Hall; 5.30 pm: Rasika Ranjan Sabha’s 57th annual music conference features T.M. Krishna, B.U. Ganesh Prasad, S. Sekhar. January 25 at the Apeejay Lawn (Apeejay House, 15 Park Street); 11.30 am - 1.30 pm: Krosswindz will perform as a mark of tribute to police sergeant late Bapi Sen. The show is jointly hosted by Oxford Bookstore and Krosswindz and proceeds from the show will be handed over to the bereved family. January 26 at Vivekananda Hall, the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture; 6 pm: The Ramakrishna Institute of Culture in association with Jalsaghar Foundation will felicitate Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Calcutta Mayor Subrata Mukherjee will be the guest-in-chief, Ustad Vilayat Khan will be the guest of honour and Swami Prabhananda, secretary of the institute will preside. This will be followed by a vocal recital by Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, with Suresh Talwalkar on tabla and Dr Arvind Thatte on harmonium. January 26 at the Urban Zone, Swabhumi; 6 pm: A musical carnival Taal Tantra features Tanmoy Bose (tabla) along with other percussionists including Thomas Zen from Brazil and Weiser from Germany. January 29 at Birla Academy of Art & Culture; 5 pm: Sangeetanjali hosts its eighth annual Indian classical musical programme. Participants include: Goutam Roy, Mrinal Sen, Bhupen Seal and Dipali Ruhidas with (accompanists) Anjan Mukherjee, Sangram Roy, Debdulal Ruhidas and Rathindra nath Mazumdar. Till January 26 at the Hiland Park Sports (opposite Peerless Hospital on E.M. Byepass); 10 am - 5 pm: The Hiland Park, in association with Spandan Art Gallery, hosts a five-day art camp.

Birla Sabhagar; 11 am: Professor P.Lal reads of the antigods persuading Duryodhana to shake off his depression after his defeat at the Gandharvas’ hands, in the 164th weekly session of his complete English transcreation of Vyasa’s Mahabharata. January 30 at Srijan, 176, Sarat Bose Road; 5.30 pm: A host of poets will join a Poetry Adda session.


January 25 at Abhedananda Memorial Hall, Ramakrishna Vedanta Math; 7 pm: Swami Paramatmananda will speak on Yuge Yuge Jahader Agaman.
