Single parent, double trouble

London, Jan. 24 (Reuters): Children from single-parent families face more than double the risk of suffering psychological problems and are more likely to attempt suicide, Swedish scientists said.

“Our findings... showed increased risk of psychiatric disease, suicide or suicide attempt, injury and addiction in children in single-parent households, compared with those in two-parent households,” said Dr Gunilla Ringback Weitoft of the National Board of Health and Welfare in Stockholm.
