Bengal likely to opt for pace triad

RANJI TROPHY vs DELHI

Calcutta: Bengal is likely to go in with three pacers for their crucial Ranji Trophy encounter against Delhi starting at the Kotla on Saturday.

With ball doing quite a lot in the fog-laden morning session, the team management is planning to have Shabbir Ali, who has come back from an injury, in the first XI along with Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Ranadeb Bose.

Recalled Nikhil Haldipur is almost certain to launch the innings along with Arindam Das. The management is also planning to have Deep Dasgupta down the order, with the No. 6 slot a distinct possibility.

According to sources, the players likely to sit out are Sanjib Sanyal, Subhradeep Ganguly and Murtaza Lodhgar.

Kerala move up

Meanwhile a brilliant five for 66 by spinner Sreekumar Nair helped Kerala beat Madhya Pradesh by 68 runs in the Ranji Trophy plate division semi-final in Kochi Tuesday. The win helped Kerala qualify for the elite group. In the final, Kerala will take on the winners of Karnataka and Vidarbha, adds PTI.
