Kochi: Chasing 230 for win, Madhya Pradesh were 126 for five in their second innings against Kerala on the third day of the Ranji Trophy plate group semi-final Monday.

The Madhya Pradesh innings was anchored by captain Amay Khurasia, who was unbeaten on 74.

Earlier, Kerala, resuming at overnight 78 for five, lost two quick wickets.

However, a fighting 82-run eighth wicket partnership between Sureshkumar (58) and Ananthapadmanabhan (28) helped Kerala reach 185.

Former India leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani (four for 58) and medium pacer S. Pandey (three for 42) pulled Kerala back.

For Kerala, Indian medium pacer Tinu Yohannan claimed two for 17 while Sreekumar Nair for two for 49.
