Govt orders bird probe

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 20: The Orissa government today ordered an inquiry into the birthday bash last Friday of a senior IAS officer at the Bhubaneswar Club, where the menu consisted of 100 migratory waterfowls from the Chilka lake, reports our correspondent.

The list of invitees for the party included a minister and two senior journalists, besides a host of IAS officers.

The probe order came after a complaint to chief minister Naveen Patnaik by a wildlife expert who alleged that poachers had procured the fowls served for dinner on the evening of January 17.
