Tollygunge trounce Rangers

Tollygunge Agragami trounced Calcutta Rangers by 295 runs in Sunday’s CAB senior division league tie. Kunal Bajpayee took seven for 69 to dismiss Rangers for 168. Tollygunge had amassed 463 for four earlier.

Benefit tie

Medicos Cricket Club beat Suraksha XI by five wickets in a friendly involving city doctors at Salt Lake FD Block on Sunday. The tie was aimed at raising funds for the family of late Indian football captain Pem Dorji.

Mitra leads

Second seed Swapan Mitra was leading the field with 8.5 points after Round XI of the state chess meet being played at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra.

Gayatri fails

Ramesh Krishnan’s daughter Gayatri failed to cross the final barrier in qualifying for the main draw of the Pepsodent-ONGC ITF junior meet at DKS. She lost 4-6, 4-6 to Asha Nanda Kumar.
