India-Pak grudge tie

Dhaka: India, whose title hattrick dreams were shattered with a 1-2 semi-final defeat against Bangladesh on Saturday, will play in the consolation third place play-off against Pakistan in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup on Monday.

India will miss the services of Ashim Biswas, out due to suspension. The young striker picked up his second yellow card in the semi-final against Bangladesh. Besides, Debjit Ghosh would be a doubtful starter. He suffered a calf muscle injury in the previous game.

But the focus will be on Bangladesh and the Maldives, the losing finalists of the two previous editions.

Hosts Bangladesh and the Maldives lock horns in the final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
