Six-way lead

Benefit tie

Eminent doctors of the city will play a cricket match at the Salt Lake FD Block ground on Sunday. The tie between Suraksha XI and Medicos Cricket Club aims at raising funds for the family of former Indian football captain Pem Dorji, who died in the city last year.

Bengal lose

Bengal lost out to Indian Airlines via tie-breaker in the semi-finals of the Raja Sareswar Das Memorial hockey tournament being played in Rajnandgaon in Chattishgarh. According to information received here, both teams were tied goalless during the regulation and extra time.

Schools’ meet

Hosts Mahadevi Birla Girls’ HS teams reached the finals in all categories — Junior, Middle and Senior — in the inter-school badminton championship.
