North Zone well placed

Rohtak, Jan. 11 (PTI): An unbeaten knock of 55 by Shekhar Dhawan propelled North Zone to a healthy 123 for two on the opening day of their final match against East Zone in the under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy here Saturday.

At stumps Dhawan was unbeaten on 55 and Vikram Dhariwal was batting on two.

Earlier, East Zone won the toss and put North in to bat. North lost their first wicket on 38 when captain Manvinder Bisla returned to the pavilion.

Dhawan and Oberoi (44) put on a 75 runs for the second wicket before the latter was out at a total of 113.

Only 160 minutes of play was possible on the opening day due to foggy weather conditions as a result of which only 44 overs could be bowled.
