Wellington: The touring Indian cricketers could not be suspected of taking performance-enhancing drugs given their poor show in New Zealand, but a dope test will be conducted on each member of the team before they fly home on January 15.
The players are expected to go for the test shortly, according to a member of the team, who said every member had already given his consent in writing.
The test is an internal measure intended to avoid any embarrassment for India in the upcoming World Cup in South Africa.
The ICC has already issued a warning to all the 14 participating teams that dope tests in the World Cup is mandatory.
Physio Andrew Leipus has advised the Indian cricketers against using any medicine without consulting him.
