Brooke to have first child at 37

Los Angeles, Jan. 4: Brooke Shields, who was previously married to the tennis player Andre Agassi, is expecting her first child in May.

The 37-year-old actress said yesterday that she and her new husband, the television producer Chris Henchy, were delighted.

“Getting pregnant was not easy,” she said. “Chris and I had been hoping for a while, just waiting and wondering and trying. There is no preference for a boy or girl, we just want a healthy baby.”

The couple married in April 2001 and at the time Shields said she had finally found true love. Her marriage to Agassi in 1997 ended in divorce two years later.

Shields, who found fame when she was cast in The Blue Lagoon at the age of 15, appeared in the television comedy show Suddenly Susan from 1996 to 1999.

She recently finished filming Rent a Husband but said that she would give up work after the birth of her child.

Agassi is now married to Steffi Graf, the German tennis player.

The couple celebrated the birth of their first child last October.
