JCT pull out of IFA Shield

Calcutta: The IFA Shield was reduced to a seven-team affair with JCT pulling out at the last moment. The IFA authorities informed that the JCT club management was not happy with the terms and conditions.

Therefore, group B will consist of three teams Mohammedan Sporting, Vasco SC and Port Trust, while group A includes East Bengal, Tollygunge Agragami, Indian Bank and Churchill Brothers.

Meanwhile, the IFA is yet to decide on the venue of the opening fixture between Indian Bank and Tollygunge Agragami.

While ESPN, the official broadcaster of the meet, wants the match to be held at the Salt Lake Stadium, the IFA authorities are keen to have the match held at the Howrah Stadium for better crowd response.
