The storytellerís art

The modern French painter, Maurice Denis, made a statement which has now gained an aphoristic value: ďRemember, that a picture, before being a horse, a nude, or some kind of anecdote, is essentially a flat surface covered with colours in a certain order.Ē Veteran artist-essayist-childrenís story writer-all rolled-into-one, Badri Narainís simple and colourful canvases are visually delightful. There is a child-like simplicity and harmony in his works which are loaded with layers of meanings. Each of Narainís canvases tells a story and they all have an old-world charm of miniature aka album paintings and glow with the artistís inner warmth.
