December 27, 28 & 30: Anandam (Mumbai) has organised a two -day Bengali drama festival to raise funds for cancer patients. Dec. 27: Dushtu Projapati (6.30 pm, Madhusudan Mancha) & Dec. 28 at 6 pm, Rabindra Sadan); Dec. 30: Koyekti Paakhir Bibriti (6 pm, Sisir Mancha). Today at Ritwik Sadan, Kalyani; 6.30 pm: Kalyani Natyacharcha Kendra’s 8th National Theatre Festival concludes with the staging of Gotraheen (Bengali; Adaptation & dir: Rudraprasad Sengupta) presented by Nandikar, Clacutta.


Till December 28 at CIMA Gallery; 2 pm - 7 pm: Brahma to Bapu: Icons & Symbols in Indian Art. Featuring works of eminent artists. Till December 29 at Proscenium’s Art Centre; 4 pm - 8 pm: An exhibition of paintings by Bijoy Basak, Biswajit Mitra and Pappu Bardhan.


December 31 at the Waterside Cafe, Hyatt Regency: Local band plays popular western music to set the mood for the evening. Also, ghazals by Dhruvjyoti Bhattacharya at Guchhi, special menu at The Bar and lavish dinner, dance, music and exotic entertainment at the Regency Ballroom. December 31 & January 1 at Kewpie’s: Special New Year’s spread. Till January 15 at Terrace Gardens, Grain of Salt Terrace Banquet; 7 pm: A barbecue extravaganza.

Till January 2 at the Publication Division, Sales Emporium, 8, Esplanade East; 10 am - 6 pm: An exhibition-cum-sale of a large collection of books on various subjects. Till January 5 at Identity Exhibition Gallery, 22, Ballygunge Park Road; 10 am - 8 pm: An exhibition-cum sale of a large collection of Indian and imported books on a wide range of subjects.


Today at Srijan, 176, Sarat Bose Road; 6 pm: Sumit Roy presents the Beatles with live performance by Vayu. December 28 at Swabhumi; 6.30 pm: Nondon Bagchi, Gavin D’Cunha and Geffrey Menezes along with the rock group, Skinny Alley, will perform. December 28 at Kala Mandir; 6.30 pm: The Tagoreans, a London-based cultural society, in collaboration with Rabir Alo, will present a rendition, Ogo Shono Ke Bajaye based on Tagore’s compositions on flute. Participants include Maya Sen, Bulbul Chowdhury, Pramita Mullick and Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta. Also, felicitation of eminent Ashram Kanya Amita Sen, Professor Somendranath Bandopadhyay and Dr Anup Ghoshal are on the cards. December 28 at Aban Mahal (CLT) Dhakuria; 5 pm: To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sarada Maa, Sree Satyananda Mahapeeth hosts a cultural programme featuring a musical soiree, Sabar Apan Ma, presented by artistes of Sree Satyananda Sangeetpeeth, classical song by Kaushik Bhattacharya with Susamay Misra on tabla. Also, Archana Pranati, a dance recital by Ashram inmates and a dance drama: Hara-Gouri Milan. December 29 at 23 Pally Durga Mandir Hall, Harish Mukherjee Road; 6.30 pm: Shree Shree Sarada Milan Mala & Baba Alauddin Memorial Committee present an evening of classical music featuring Prabal Choudhury (sitar) and Debshankar Dibedi (dhrupad). December 29 at the Vivekananda Hall, The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture; 5.30 pm: An evening ofclassical music featuring (1) tabla lahara by Anindyo Chatterjee and Anubrata Chaterjee, with Ramesh Misra on sarangi; (2) Aaman Ali Bangash (sarod) with Bikram Ghosh (tabla); and (3) Ghulam Mustafa Khan (vocal) with Sabir Khan (tabla). December 31 at Calcutta Lake Club; 9 pm: Kaushik Bose of Natural Elements will belt out peppy numbers for listeners.

Birla Sabhagar; 6 pm: Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Sangeet & Nritya Sikshan Bharati presents an Odissi dance recital by Dona Roy Ganguly and students of Diksha Manjari followed by Bharata Natyam recital: Abhanga Vani by Vandana Alase Hazra and her disciples (Dec. 29); Meghadoota — Dance -drama in Kathak style by Rani Karnaa and her disciples (Dec.30).
