East Bengal start well

Calcutta, Dec. 21: Safi Ahmedís 99 not out put East Bengal in command at the end of Day I of their CAB first division league match against Kumartuli at the Greer ground Saturday. At stumps, East Bengal were 354 for five.

The match was delayed for almost an hour because the pitch that was initially chosen for the match was not fit for playing. The match was played on the alternate pitch and Kumartuli got 36 bonus runs for the delay, since Greer is East Bengalís home ground.
