Sales topper dies of cardiac arrest

Calcutta: The Breeze up sales topper Special Happening died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning. Coming under the hammer for Rs 3.5 lakh at the sales last month, the Vijay Singh-trainee collapsed as he was being pulled up after finishing his 1,400m gallop. The following track work noted on the outer sand track:

2,000m: Shining Jewel (Shanker) and Adnreyev (C. Alford) in 2-31s; (400m) 32s. Former was far better.

1,400m: Anatolia (Shanker) and Romantic Notes (C. Alford) 1-44s; (400m) 30s. Former was far better; latter was eased up in the last 400m. Thrilling Proposal (Shanker), Alsheim (Surender) and Andropov (C. Alford) in 1-43s; (400m) in 31s. Each was separated by a length. Special Happening (Shanker) and Arzillo (C. Alford) in 1-39s; (400m) 30s. Former was far better but died of a cardiac arrest. Artiness (Surender) and Amicable (Shanker) in 1-46s; (400m) 31s. Former was a length better.

800m: Alternator (C. Alford) in 56s; (400m) 27s. Impressed. Caloresce-nce (Shanker) in 56s; (400m) 29s. Was handy. Moon Mission (Yacoob) in 57s; (400m) 29s. Easy. 600m: The Archer (Dalpat) in 41s; (400m) 27s. Easy.

Sand track 1,000m: Rhapsody In Blue (Rutherford) and Ispahan ( K. Kumar) in 1-8s; (800m) 52s; (400m) 26s. Former was 4 ls better.
