NDA forfeit Carmichael Cup match

Fort William Polo Club/ASC will meet 61st Cavalry in the final of the Carmichael Cup on Tuesday. The Fort William team won their semi-final clash on Monday when their opponents NDA were forced to forfeit the match in view of the horse-fall of captain N.S. Sandhu. NDA had no replacement to make a bid to recover.

Long distance swimming

Suman Dutta of Taldi Swimming Centre, with a timing of 1:04.32, emerged champion in the 10km swimming competition on the Ganges, organised by Kumartuli Bagdebi Tarun Sangha on Sunday. Koushik Dey (1:06.39) and Manoj Dutta (1:07.22), both from Central Swimming Club, finished second and third, respectively, while Tagori Baidya was the fastest woman at 1:06.22.

Centenary march

Friends’ Union Club of Konnagar will hold a march on December 22 as part of its centenary celebrations. This will follow a felicitation for sporting personalities in the state.
