Akshay stays in lead

Calcutta: Overnight leader Akshay Butta carded an eight-over 80, but still retained his position on top in category A after the penultimate round of the East India junior and sub-junior golf championship at RCGC Thursday.

Tashi Kidwai returned the day’s best score of four-over 76 for a tally of 235, which placed him in second place. Sagar Bhatia was third at 238 after a disappointing round of 87.

Overnight leaders maintained their position in the other three categories as well, but there were no notable scores. Ajitesh Sandhu hit an 83 in Category B, while Amanjyot Singh got 80 in Category C.

SCORES

Category A: Akshay Butta 229, Tashi Kidwai 235, Sagar Bhatia 238.

Category B: Ajitesh Sandhu 241, Richard Hilton 244, A. Mohan 244.

Category C: Amanjyot Singh 233, Rahul Bakshi 260.

Category D: Rajesh Halder 178, Sheikh Ajash Ali 179, Romel Majumdar 180, Khalin Joshi 180.
