Bhatia leads on Day I

Calcutta: Sagar Bhatia carded a three-over 75 to emerge leader in Category A of the East India junior and sub-junior golf championship which started at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Tuesday.

Fifty-four players aged between 11 and 17 are taking part in the meet played over the par-72 RCGC greens.

There are 17 outstation players in fray. Thirteen players below the age of 11 are expected to tee off on Wednesday, according to a RCGC press release. Surya Prakash returned an eight-over 80 to take the lead in Category B, followed by Ajitesh Sandhu, who was trailing by a stroke.

There were two notable scores in Category C as well, where Amanjyot Singh returned the best score of the day with four-over 76. Rahul Bakshi was placed second at 11-over 83.
