Canberra: A thigh injury has forced England captain Nasser Hussain to pull out of Tuesday’s practice match against the Australian Prime Minister’s XI.
Team officials said the Essex batsman was ordered to rest because of a thigh problem but would be fine to play in Friday’s one-overs International against Australia in Sydney.
Marcus Trescothick will take over as captain and said he was hoping to lead the English to their first victory on tour.
England blew a golden opportunity to win their first match on tour when they crashed to a 23-run defeat against Australia A in Sydney after having the game at their mercy. But Trescothick said the tourists were confident of turning things around.
