Santineketan, Dec. 9: A collection of Chinese books was lost forever after a fire partially gutted Visva-Bharati’s Cheena Bhavan this afternoon.

About 150-200 rare books on Chinese history were reduced to ashes in the fire that broke out around 3.45 pm. An alarm was raised almost immediately and the fire brigade doused the flames in about an hour.
