Humpy aims to retain title

Panaji: Woman Grandmaster Koneru Humpy will be defending her title in the 41st world junior and 19th world girls chess championships which gets underway Monday.

Around 150 players from 50 countries, including 18 Grandmasters would vie for the honours in the tournament which India is hosting for the third time, secretary of All India Chess Federation, P. T. Ummer Koya said. India would be fielding a 40-strong contingent for the meet in which Russia, China, France, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Romania, Germany, Finland, Greece and Hungary are also taking part. (PTI)
