Trio feted

The state Amateur Athletic Association on Saturday felicitated Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, Saraswati Saha and Soma Biswas. The association also announced cash aid for Susmita Singha Roy, Hari Shankar Roy, Pinki Pramanik, Sabina Khatoon, Mallika Mondal, Birangan Thakur and Safina Khatun from the Athletes’ Benevolent Fund.

Ganguly dies

Former national boxing champion Ashok Ganguly died recently at 65. Ganguly was national champion from 1956 to 1961. He was also Bengal coach from 1992-93.

Damani tops

Brijesh Damani beat Aamir Hussain 90-46, 88-48, 58-69, 85-41 in the final of the fourth N.K. Sood Memorial handicap snooker championship at YMCA (College Branch) Saturday.
