Another title for Ragini

Ragini Vimal, numero uno in the state, lifted the womenís singles crown at the Saturday Club floodlit tournament beating Reedhina Parekh 6-4, 6-2 in Fridayís final. This was her fourth title of the meet.

In menís singles, Harshit Sharma prevented an all-Sewa final by scalping elder brother Vinod 6-0, 2-6, 6-3. In Fridayís other semi-final, Manoj Sewa fought off Abhishek Jagnani 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. The menís final comes off Saturday evening.

National Games tennis camp

Beginning Sunday, coach Sayandeb Chakraborty will supervise four-hour daily sessions where all seven players ó Vinod Sewa, Harshit Sharma, Abhishek Jagnani, Rupesh Roy, Ragini Vimal, Reedhina Parekh and Tania Ahuja ó will work out.

Enrico Piperno may help out too. The squad will leave for Hyderabad on Thursday.

Merchantsí Cup at South Club

This was announced at a press conference Friday evening.

The teams will be divided into two groups of three each. The top two will qualify for the final while the other four will compete for the Losersí Plate.

Handicap snooker

In Fridayís semis, Damani saw off Mahfooz Alam 3-2 while Hussain edged past Saurav Kothari 3-2.
