Assault heat on Kerala judge

Kochi, Dec. 4 (PTI): A sitting judge of Kerala High Court is in the eye of a controversy over his alleged assault on a motorcyclist.

The All-India Lawyers’ Union has urged the high court chief justice to take “exemplary action” against Justice J.M. James.

The incident occurred two days ago when a youth refused to let James’ car overtake his motorcycle. An angry James allegedly jumped out of the car and assaulted Saneesh.

After the alleged incident, Saneesh was admitted in a hospital with severe ear pain. Police sources said he complained about a non-cognisable offence.

The union’s state general-secretary N.A. Ali in a statement here has demanded strong action against Justice James.
