4 in judicial custody for ISI link

Behrampore, Dec. 2: Four persons, arrested for their alleged links with the ISI, have been remanded in judicial custody till December 13 by the subdivisional judicial magistrate.

Ziauddin Biswas, Rinku Ahmed and ex-servicemen Sahadeb Saha and Imdadul Mondol were picked up by the police last month.

Ziauddin was arrested on November 17 from a village in Jalangi along with his wife Ismatara, Hasan Habib and Ghulam Murtaza for having links with the ISI and for “recruiting” defence personnel and ex-servicemen to gather sensitive information for the outfit.

Ismatara, Habib and Murtaza are already in judicial custody.

The two defence personnel, air force data operator Aufan Ukil and army jawan Nazrul Islam, were arrested by the air force and military police.

The police picked up Ahmed after interrogating Ziauddin and the others.

Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from a rented apartment in Bhadreswar government colony today, adds our Hooghly correspondent. Police said they were infiltrators and were being interrogated.
