Akshay lifts under-14 title

Akshay Bajoria emerged the champion in the boys’ under-14 singles of the floodlit tennis tournament at Saturday Club on Friday. In the final, Akshay beat Arkopravo Rakshit 6-1, 6-3.

Ohid Alam and Soumit Dey will clash with each other for the boys’ under-12 crown. In the semi-finals, Ohid beat Sheikh Asgar 6-3, 6-2 while Soumit edged past Mohammed Imran 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.

Men’s handicap singles quarters — Sukanta Roy bt Samrit Burman 6-3, 6-3; Gora Mukherjee bt Farid Alam 6-3, 4-6, 6-4; Mixed doubles handicap — Manoj Sewa & Priyanka Parekh bt S. Cricket for a cause

Umpires of Cricket Association of Bengal will hold a double wicket meet, aiming at raising funds for the their sick and disabled fraternity. A number of Bengal players are expected to take part in the tournament, to be held at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium from December 6 to 8.

Bodybuilding

Bengal have picked a nine-member squad for the third Federation Cup national bodybuilding meet and a three-member team for fifth master nationals for the veterans, both to be held at Bhilai from December 13 to 15.
