IPS officers shuffled

Calcutta, Nov. 27: The government today shuffled nine IPS officials, some of whom were promoted, says our correspondent.

Sources in Writers’ Buildings said DIG (organisation) Joydeb Chakraborty has been made IG (prisons). He will take over from Anil Kumar, who was made IG (training) replacing S. Agarwal.

Agarwal takes over as Calcutta Municipal Corporation’s vigilance authority from P.K. Sahay, who was appointed IG (armed police). R.K. Johri, who holds the post, has been made IG (forest).

The commandant of the eighth battalion of armed police, Nandadulal Biswas, was promoted as DIG (armed police). First battalion commandant Debendra Sukul, was made civil defence controller (DIG rank). Nazrul Islam, DIG(enforcement), was made DIG (organisation).
