Bangalore: India’s Thomas Kurien lost to Antti Vittiko of Finland 7-15, 8-15 in the final of the men’s singles event of the Scottish International badminton championships which concluded at Glasgow on Sunday.
Thomas qualified for the main draw by beating Michael Ractliffe of Scotland 15-3, 15-5 and Richard Williams of Wales 15-2, 15-1, said a release from the Prakash Padukone badminton academy, of which he is a student, on Monday.
In the tournament Thomas beat Chris Dednam of South Africa in the first round. Then, he upset Mark Burgess. Next, Thomas beat Canadian No. 1 Bobby Milroy in the quarters. In the semis he overpowered John Uddfolk of Finland.
